The federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour is supposed to keep workers from getting paid almost nothing like they do in China. There is a loopol and many Americans are making as little as 22 cents per hour! Goodwill and other charitable orginaztions make tons of money for their able bodies executives while some of their workers make next to nothing. Next time you donate, think about that, your donation may not really do any good! If a worker can do the job, it should not matter if they are disabled or not. So why can companies pay less than minimum wage? It is an exemption to the law that almost know one knows about, bucause it does not apply to them personally. Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA) allows employers to obtan a special certificate that lets them pay workers with disabilities less than minimum wage. By definition minimum wage should be the lowest anyone can be paid!
